Mural In A Box is a visual arts program that provides teachers and students at Australian schools with specialised resources that enable them to paint a mural at their school. Our kits are designed so that teachers do not need specialist painting or drawing skills.

In addition to the paint, equipment and mural templates in the box, we also provide curriculum aligned resources including an artist talk video, installation video and information sheets for the teacher to use in the classroom.

Our mural designs are designed by professional street artists in Australia. Students will learn about how the artist works, what their inspirations are, the real world practice of being a mural artist and our resources include links for students to further research the artists practice.

Schools are able to contact our team to discuss their mural install and ask questions. The Mural In A Box program is particularly relevant during the pandemic when most schools aren’t able to have visitors to the school. It is also a valuable resource for schools in regional and remote areas. Mural In A Box is the perfect ‘Incursion’ for students and can be undertaken outdoors on a wall or indoors in a classroom. Mural painting is relevant for a broad range of students including hard to engage students, high achieving and gifted students and students struggling with anxiety or depression.

Our team has over forty years of combined experience in mural painting and working with schools. During this time we’ve witnessed how much fun students have painting together as a team, the new skills that they eagerly learn as they participate, the self-esteem they build through painting a mural and the positive contributions that ‘public art’ makes to the school environment.
